Getting a Quote
For most projects we aim to get a quote back to you within 24h. However, if you submit a quote in the morning we can sometimes provide a quote the same day. Injection moulding is the exemption to this as and will take more than 24h to quote.
The quickest way is to fill out our online quote form. Alternatively, if you would like to discuss your project before submitting a quote, feel free to email our engineers at team@get-it-made.co.uk.
Payment and Shipping
For small scale CNC projects in Al6061 we can manufacture in as little as 2 days as we have the material readily available in-house.
Yes - we ship to almost all countries. If you would like your parts shipped outside of the UK please let us know on the quote request so we can provide you with an accurate lead time.
Yes! Once your project has finished manufacturing we will send you live tracking details along with a google drive link containing your part photos.
Technical Questions
Our engineers will often use EDM when machining processes such as CNC milling and CNC turning cannot produce the desired cut. EDM is great for cutting sharp internal corners or a particularly deep cavity.
ISO metric threads (M3, M6, etc), BSPT, BSP, UNF
Get It Made offers a wide variety of materials, although we mainly work with metals and plastics. Please see the list for a sample of the materials we work with. For CNC machining please see our material list for CNC machining.
If you can’t see the material you are looking for, please get in touch with Get It Made, and we will do our best to source it for you.
As a general rule of thumb, over 500x units can be considered the minimum order quantity for injection moulding.
However, when injection moulding becomes the most cost effective solution depends on the complexity of the design.
For smaller volume projects consider CNC machining or Vacuum casting
EDM has a maximum achievable tolerances of ± 0.012 mm.
We accept 3D CAD files in STEP, IGS or Parasolid format. We can only accept STL files for 3D printing projects. STEP is always preferred, even for 3D Printing.
If you don’t have a 3D CAD file yet, we recommend designing in OnShape as it is free and sometimes easy to use. The other option is to find a freelance design engineer to help produce the CAD file for you. We can recommend someone if you require help.
CNC machining: ± 0.05 mm
CNC Turning: ± 0.02 mm
Type II is the standard variation of anodising and clear coatings typically have a thickness of 5-15 μm and coloured/dyed coatings 10-25 μm.
Type III anodising also known as 'hard anodising’ can have a thickness of 20-80 μm.
A good design guideline to follow is that 50% of the anodic coating is below the original surface and 50% is above. Therefore, a 12 μm coating would increase the part thickness by 6 μm.
When choosing a CNC machining manufacturer for parts processing, it's crucial to consider their experience, technology, and capacity to meet your specific needs. Look for a provider with a proven track record of precision, timely delivery, and the ability to handle the complexity of your project.
Yes, we can provide Optical Emission Spectrometry analysis as an additional service. We send photos of the material testing and the results of the chemical analysis. This does usually add a few days to the lead time and a small additional cost.
Yes - unlike a lot of our competitors, Get It Made specialises in complex projects. We can build and test your assembly before shipping your project.
Yes, we can send your material to a certified material testing centre to run calibrated tests. Be sure to discuss this with your Get It Made project manager at the start of your project. This often adds a week to the lead time.
Yes, we can get material certificates from the material vendor, but these will sometimes be in Mandarin, the important information like grade, material size, date, chemical composition etc will be present.
There is no additional cost for to provide this.
